The best entrepreneurs make decisions based on their values.
The best managers make decisions based on the corporate values.
The best leaders teach their people how to make decisions based on the corporate values.
When you start a business, you make all the decisions yourself. In order to survive you need to make them based on a set of consistent criteria: Who you are, what you do and what you stand for.
Do that and you’ll grow, and your business will need to develop corporate values that everyone shares. Those shared values will be the new criteria by which you make decisions.
But if you want to continue growing, you can’t make all the decisions. That means that you’ll have to teach others how to make decisions based on the company values.
Another word for that is leadership.
How’s your leadership? What would your team say?
